EcoBoost Shelby Mustang Rumoured

By Nick Dasko

I think you're going to see the industry going completely to small engines with turbochargers. That's the only way you can get the mileage that the government is going to be demanding.

That is Shelby American Vice President Gary Patterson quoting the late Carrol Shelby talking about the future of their models, which will debut at January's Detroit Auto Show.

While this likely means a Shelby Focus ST, it also is hinting at an EcoBoost Mustang built by Shelby. Shelby could drop an EcoBoost four-cylinder engine into the Mustang to make an affordable Shelby performance car. The V6 EcoBoost from the F-150 which is already rear-wheel-drive would make an even more appealing vehicle.

Mustang-Based Lincoln Coupe in Development

By Nick Dasko

Lincoln has a history of using Mustang platforms for their own projects. The Fox Body platform was used for the Lincoln Continental from 1982 to 1987. It also came in a coupe, the Mark VII from 1984 to 1992 and now there is a rumor of a follow-up vehicle.

If the new MKZ succeeds then Lincoln will have money to proceed on a RWD coupe project. With Ford investing so much money into a new, global, Mustang platform it only makes sense to get a second vehicle out of it.

To keep the vehicles separate, the Lincoln is expected to use a slightly wheelbase version of the platform. Predictions are for an EcoBoost 2.9 V6 to be the most popular engine.

EVO Magazine Drag Races Shelby GT500 Against C63 AMG

By Nick Dasko

The United Kingdom's EVO is one of the most well respected buff-books in the automotive world. They recently pitted the brand new 2013 Shelby GT500 against a European "muscle car," the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG in a 1km drag race. The much more afFORDable Shelby, trounces the AMG but you can see that for yourself in the EVO Magazine video.

For the race, they used the only 2013 GT500 that is currently in the UK. We went on the UK's Autotrader and found one for sale for just under 60 thousand British pounds. A Mercedes C63 AMG stickers for just over 58 thousand pounds in the UK.

This makes the the Shelby seem like less of a bargain in the UK, until we look at the power figures. The 6.2 liter V8 in the Merc is hooked up to a 7-speed automatic transmission that sends 451 HP and 452 LBS/FT of torque to the rear wheels. Now Mercedes has detuned this engine to 518HP, that it normally produces in most of their vehicles. This is to encourage buyers to spend more and get the pricer cars.

Ford Possibly Working on 2014.5 Mustang For 50th Anniversary

By Nick Dasko

The Ford Mustang has enjoyed uninterrupted production since its debut as 1964 1/2 model. So it makes perfect sense that a Ford Social Media representative would post on a Mustang forum site about the coming of a 2014 1/2 model.

The rep says "The 2014 will be the 50th Anniversary edition. It will be added to production for a limited run sometime during the year." Now as a limited edition this makes it seem that it could either be the swan-song for the current model Mustang or the debut of the brand-new, global car.

The Ford representative also says that "2014MY order banks are open now...they wont build until the middle of first quarter 2013." This puts 2014 Mustangs on dealer lots by spring of 2013. This leaves plenty of time for second model year in that same calendar-year for the 2014.5 models.

Two Twister Mustangs Sell for Combined $270,000

By Nick Dasko

Back in the 60s and 70s, certain parts of the United States got their own special editions of the Ford Mustang. Colorado had the High Country, Texas had the Blue Bonnets, California of course had the California Special and in 1970, Kansas City had the Twister. Two of these ultra-rare cars recently sold at auction for a huge chunk of change.

Only 96 were made, all as part of an agreement with American Raceways Inc. They were all Grabber Orange and were based on the Mach 1.

All the cars were originally suppose to have Cobra Jet 428 engine but there was a shortage of the engine so only 48 were built that way. The others have Cleveland 351 V8s. All the cars had every option box ticked from the factory.

Saleen Ford Mustang S351 Has 700HP

By Nick Dasko

Steve Saleen left his company to found SMS Supercars in 2008. Well that company is dead and he is back where should be. The latest car out Saleen's shop is the S351 Mustang which sports a 351 C.I. engine (5.7 liters.)

Using a Saleen 296 supercharger this is a tremendously potent 700hp machine. In order to get all that power to the pavement the only gearbox is a six-speed manual. The clutch is a heavy-duty Saleen unit. The final drive is set to 3.73:1. This thing PULLS!!

In order to stop this massively powerful Mustang, the brakes have of course been upgraded. At all four corners are 15 inch rotors. To accomodate the big brakes are 20 inch rims.

By Nick Dasko

Steeda debuted a tuned version of Boss 302 Mustang at SEMA earlier this year and now have announced the details for a production version of the car.

The options list for the Boss 302 is supremely comprehensive covering tires, suspension, and of course drivetrain and engine.

All the products being offered by Steeda proved their gumption during track-testing sessions.

Spy Photos of 2015 Mustang Show Family Nose

By Nick Dasko

When the Mustang debuted as a 1964.5 model it changed the automotive industry. The 50th anniversary of the car seems like the perfect time to update it to a model that will once again, completely change the game.

With Ford's new "One Ford" policy dictating global distribution of the majority of its products, the Mustang is going to Europe with the next redesign. That means it has to look like the other global products, meaning it has to sport the new nose that was first seen on the Evos concept.

The full gallery shows a rear-end styled like the current models but that may just be a trim piece used as a red-herring. As it is not very well camouflaged, that is what we are leaning towards.
