The only minor problem with this install is that you will not be able
to tell visually if the car is Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, 2, or 1,
and you will also not be able to tell if the Overdrive button is engaged,
but you will get used to it in a short time.
A possible solution to the OD Button location is now On-Line
in a new tech article please click here to read all about it.
I had the leather boot custom made to fit the AODE shifter console, but
you might try using a T5 boot, or one from other car, check in your local
junkyard or inspect some cars with manual shifters, maybe another car
has one that fits the application.
To install first you have to remove the shifter bezel, its an easy task,
just pull it gently until the tabs get released.
Remove the shifter handle, there is an allen screw at the back, unscrew
and get the handle out.
Insert the leather boot and wrap it around the shifter console, reinstall
the handle and cover. |
