Here is your guide to interpreting universal Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN). All vehicle information applies to 1996 - 2003 models only. For previous model year VIN information, check sources at your dealership.

Universal Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) have 17 "positions". There is a number or a letter in each position (see example).

Note: This tool may not return accurate results for special order vehicles (e.g. "Z" engine code) or some Medium/Heavy Trucks.
