Ford has unveiled their latest act of charity, a special Mustang that will benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer society. This limited edition Ford Mustang has some special features you wonít find on any other car and should help introduce a whole new demographic to this classic car.
The 2008 Warriors in Pink Ford Mustang has been limited to a production of 2,500 units. Ford hopes that they will be able to raise $500k from sales to assist the Susan G. Komen society in their efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. This is the first time Ford has worked with the society to produce a special vehicle.
They say that real men can wear pink, but can they drive it? This Mustang should appeal to even the most hardened muscle car enthusiast. After all, itís going to a good cause! The black exterior is highlighted with pink rocker tape striping on the sides. The Pony on the side of the car is backed by a small pink ribbon. The fender badge also features a pink Pony.
The interior is done in charcoal leather and features contrasting pink stitching. The breast cancer awareness ribbon is also featured on the floor mat. This edition comes with the Mustang Pony package and is available in three colors, the above mentioned black as well as performance white and metallic silver. One interesting thing to note is the special grille and chrome bezel lamps that are unique to this particular edition.
Ford hopes that using the Ford Mustang, which is the hottest selling sports car in America, will draw more attention to the Susan G. Komen society. Ford has already donated more than $90 million to the society and hopes that this campaign will truly help raise awareness for breast cancer. Currently, Ford Mustangs account for one of out of every two sports cars sold in the US. This kind of popularity should truly help the society raise awareness and get more support.
They are also featuring a similar Warriors in Pink campaign in the Ford apparel store. You can go to FordCares.com to see the available items for men, women and children. All proceeds from the apparel go directly to the society. This has already helped Ford raise $1 million since 2006 for the society. Three new Warrior symbols have been added to the apparel line, giving people even more options in the Race for the Cure.
You can pre-order your Warrior in Pink Ford Mustang from any Ford dealer right now. Delivery is anticipated for mid-summer of 2008. Prices are in line with other Mustangs and you can rest easy knowing that it is going to a good cause. Ford has provided us with a great way to show our support for breast cancer awareness and has created a vehicle that will help the society get along faster in their race for the cure.
