The glass roof option on previous Mustang's has proven to be fairly popular, and was equipped on about 10% of the 2009 model's sales. This won't just be a pane of glass where the roof panel is supposed to be, however, as a fair amount of engineering went into designing the glass roof.
First of all, one problem with having a glass roof is that the sun is always shining on you. Not a problem for a quick jaunt around town, but a 2+ hour road trip on a sunny day could be a bit problematic. Well, the Mustang's glass roof actually cuts down 90% of UV rays form the sun, which has a number of great benefits: first, you won't get sunburn as easily; second, the sun won't fade the materials of the interior; and third, the fewer UV rays that get through the roof, the less heat is accumulated in the cabin, meaning that you won't have to have the A/C cranked on really hot days. Also, there is roller blind that is manually operated to block the glass.
The glass roof option is available on both V6 and GT 2010 Mustangs for the fairly modest price of $1,995 when compared with the extra ~$5,000 you have to pay for a convertible model.
