I recently wrote about the Detroit Auto Show official reveal of the Shelby Mustang GT500. While many of us only dream about grabbing the wheel of this 500hp ground pounder, some cold cash and your local speed shop can turn a 2005-2009 GT into a HP monster.
Edelbrock is entering the supercharger business with their E-Force Supercharger System for Ford Mustang 4.6-litre, three-valve-per-cylinder V8 engines.
Expect 465 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque from just five pounds of boost, which Edelbrock says keeps your engine safe and reliable.
This is possible since the package uses the new Eaton Gen VI TVS belt-driven supercharger with a four-lobe design, similar to what’s used in the new Corvette ZR1.
Keeping the incoming air cool is a 110-square-inch high-capacity air-to-water intercooler and dual-core low-temp heat exchanger.
According to Edelbrock, the intercooler is the largest available on the market.
As mentioned, cold cash is the key The package has a list price of about $5,900 US, which is a relative bargain when compared to trading your Mustang GT to get a GT500.
You can see a video about the Edelbrock supercharger line on their website
