A northwest Oklahoma corn farmer has built an ethanol-fueled Ford Mustang that hit a speed of 252.78 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. He accomplished the feat back in September, but I just had the opportunity to enjoy the full story on his website.

Brent Hajek of Ames says he wanted the world to know fuel containing 85% ethanol doesn't reduce a car's performance.

The E85 powered machine was a Mustang FR500C. The FR500C was equipped with a 5.4L Ford GT block, heads and various performance parts from Ford Racing.

The speed is fastest recorded but isn't an official world record until it's duplicated. Hajek’s team couldn’t duplicate or exceed the run on other attempts. He’ll try to do that next time out at the Flats

Still Hajek says he did what he set out to do and that was to build the world's fastest Mustang and the world's fastest E-85 vehicle.

As mentioned, Hajek has a great website that tells the full story of the Bonneville run as well as other great Ford featurers. You can visit the site at:
