2007 NMRA

PURESTREET #10

2005 NMRA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
2006 NMRA PURESTREET #6

My name is Amy Sherwin. I am a single mother of two beautiful daughters with the dream and determination to race competitively in the NMRA (National Mustang Racers Association). This is my third year as part of an organized racing series. I have spent the last 16 years learning as much as I could about racing from family, friends, and fellow racers. I have owned four Mustangs to this point and have raced them all. I have progressively modified each of them and getting each car to perform better than the last has always been a goal. Once I choose the NMRA Pure Street class to compete in. I purchased the most recent 1990 Notch back Mustang. My goal for my first season was to finish within the top ten. With the help of some good friends and sponsors this goal was achieved as I finished the season sixth in points amongst the thirty racers with in my class.

In 2005 I got a feature article on the vehicle that was released in the October edition of Race Pages Magazine. I am also currently NMRA’s 2005 Rookie of the Year. Through out the 2006 season I have continuously improved on my racing program. With the drive and determination I have, I will continue to improve my racing program through out the 2007 season. I am looking forward to the opportunity to promote the NMRA and potential sponsors in a unique professional manner both at the events and through media coverage.

Racing the second season with the NMRA was a challenge. I managed finishing the season after having a crash at the Ohio race due engine failure. Three weeks later I finished the season after a lot of hard work along with the support from many fellow racers & sponsors helping us get the car ready for the World Finals. In addition to repairing the car to finish the season a new 311 ci engine was built with the help of Stealy performance. I don’t let things stop myself when it comes to achieving goals that I have set forth for my racing program. My goal for 2006 was to place in the top 5, with my determination regardless of the set backs that occurred through out the year, I finished my season tenth in points.

Choosing the NMRA was an easy decision for me for a number of reasons. The first being the professionalism in which the organization is ran. Secondly for the exposer that it offers to sponsors. Last years total spectators for all nine events were 76,450. The amount of fans at each event has consistently increased each year since the inception of the organization. Besides the fans that come to each event the NMRA has built great relations with the media. Inside drag racing which covers every NMRA event is broadcast on ESPN 2 and is viewed on average by 450,000 households each week. Beyond the television exposure there is event coverage in multiple monthly publications which reaches another 510,000 fans.

My plans are to attend and compete through out the 2007 season. The car will be getting a complete paint scheme. The goal I have set for myself for this upcoming season is to place in the top five of my class. Along with these events I will also be attending multiple car shows with the car. My team and I are looking forward to the challenges before us. We are prepared to race in a professional and friendly manner.
