Saleen Autosports, long known for their custom Mustang modifications recently announced a new edition for fans of this classic muscle car. The Saleen SA-25 Sterling Edition has been made to commemorate Saleen’s 25th anniversary in the business. Only 25 models will be made and they pack a hefty price tag of just under $100k.
However, for the true collector, this car represents a unique Mustang vision. Mustangs are considered to be the most collectible car in America and models frequently sell for upwards of $300k at the famed Barrett Jackson auction each year. If you are looking for an automotive investment, this is certainly a car to consider.
So far, this model exceeds the previous anniversary models that were released in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003. Saleen has stated that this model is the most powerful of all. Many believe that this released represents what Saleen Autosports has stood for in Mustang innovations.
The S302 Extreme provided the basis for the SA-25 Sterling Edition. It features a whopping 620 hp with 600 lb ft of torque. This makes it one of the most powerful Mustangs you will ever find. If you are looking to add a little more muscle, this car fits the bill quite nicely.
The car features an electric push button start, and will include hand painted “Gun Sight” racing stripes. The fenders will have anniversary badges and the wheels are 5 spoke forged models. Saleen also paid plenty of attention to the interior of the vehicle. The seats are made of Black Diamond Alcantara with extra leather accents. A navigation system is also included as well as a serial plaque.
If you do decide to purchase one of these icons, you will be given the full red carpet treatment. For those willing to fork over $100k, you not only get the car, but a full tour of their plant in Detroit, as well as a paid first class ticket, limo service from the airport, dinner with the corporate members of Saleen Autosports and a custom made leather jacket to match the car.
The company has not provided any additional details at this time and there has not yet been a solidified release date for this model. However, since there are so few that will be available, it is recommended that interested parties contact the company to discuss the possibility of reserving one before they are all gone. This car will undoubtedly sell out very quickly, even with its high price tag.
The Ford Mustang is an American icon and the SA-25 Sterling Edition pays homage in a unique way to this car. Although Saleen does not turn out cheap cars, you are getting the benefit of a custom made Mustang that will increase in value over time. Some Mustang owners have commented that the cars are as good as gold when it comes to returning their investment. If the 2008 results from Barrett Jackson are any indication, they are absolutely right.
