It's the wave of the future among car-makers and car-parts-makers: the V6 engine will inevitably overake the V8 due to its gas economy. Let's face it, with gas prices showing no sign of going much below $3.00 ever again, the demand is on for cars that get better mileage. The Ford Motor Company has seen this demand and is increasing the number of V6 models in their line—including the next generation Mustangs.
Preparing to capitalize on this is Steeda Auto Sports, which is investing in the V6 Mustang with a complete line of parts and accessories for the pony car. At the 2007 SEMA auto show in Las Vegas, Steema showed its V6 Mustang performance prototype, to much praise. First let's look at the name. Steeda, of course, is the company name. The “Q” stands for quick, the “S” stands for supercharged, and the 6 refers to the V6 engine. So we have a Steeda Quick, Supercharged V6-powered Mustang. It lives up to its name, and it handles superbly with its 50/50 weight distribution.
How does it achieve its “quick, supercharged” performance. Part of the seret is its positive displacement supercharger. It gives the car a lot more power at lower speeds than what most sports cars' superchargers offer. The result is a lightweight car that delivers in power and speed. It has 355 horsepower and 365 ft. lbs of torque—power that avid Mustang fans will appreciate.
Let's take a closer look at the 2008 Steeda QS6. Features include: 4.0L SOHC 12V V65-speed manual transmission; X-Charger Supercharger; Cold-air Intake; Sport Shifter; 18 x 9.5 inch Steeda wheels; Nitto 275/4018 Performance Tires; Steeda Front Fascia; brake duct kit; Steeda badging / stripes; Steeda rear wing w/ carbon fiber winglets; and an interior that includes a Steeda billet aluminum trim and Stewart Warnter gauge cluster. These features promise a car that offers the power you expect from Ford's flagship pony car, and yet a smooth ride perfect for casual cruising as well. It blends the two aspects together perfectly.
There are important lessons to learn from this. There is the obviousl lesson that Steeda understands the need for high performance cars that are, nonetheless, easy on the gasoline budget. But beyond that, it shows that Steeda Autosports remains committed to the Mustang brand and to delivering maximum performance and value to the the Mustang fan. Steeda's been around for two decades now, and is expanding their facility. Their actions show that they intend to provide exclusive limited-edition Ford performance vehicles for many years to come.
