Feb 28, 2008  By:  All Ford Mustangs News Desk

The Ford Mustang Racing Challenge for the Miller Cup got a brand new entry when Rehagen Racing announced that they will be entering a four car team in the challenge. The company plans to use the newly released Ford Mustang FR500S for their teams. This new vehicle is currently available to the public at select Ford dealerships throughout the country as well as at the Miller Motorsports Park.

The first race in the eight race challenge will be held on May 1st at the Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, Utah. Rehagen Racing is confident that their team is in it to win it and released the following statement after their announcement.

“Given our experience with the new Mustang in other Grand Am sanctioned road racing events it only seemed natural that we contest for the Miller Cup with our current car owners and drivers Jim Click, Mike McGovern, and Jamie Slone. Completing our 4-car team will be car owner and driver Mike Harvison of the #11 USTEST Fuel Management Mustang FR500S, participant in both Porsche Club of America and Koni Challenge events.

Our goal is to set the standard of performance in the series. Considering this is a spec series we will rely on our preparation, and chassis setup expertise to give our drivers every opportunity to win races. We look forward to the challenge as there are many quality teams and drivers in this series,” said Dean Martin of Rehagen Racing. “We are thrilled that our car owners and drivers have chosen Rehagen Racing to provide them full racing services, technical and engineering support throughout the season in this new and exciting series.”

Their drivers seem to share the confidence. Jamie Slone, who will be driving the #6 GoPro Car, Mustang FR500S said; “All the car owners and drivers agreed that Rehagen was a natural choice with their many years of Mustang experience and success in the Grand Am Koni Challenge series! We are ecstatic to be with Rehagen and look forward to the sprint format of racing.” Slone is also the owner of his vehicle.

Rehagen Racing is staffed by a prestigious team that includes Larry Rehagen who is a Ford Engineering Technical Specialist and Dean Martin, a former chassis engineer with Ford. You can learn more about their team and follow them through the racing season at RehagenRacing.com.

The official season will get its start on May 3rd at Road Atlanta. The Ford Mustang FR500S has been a highly anticipated entry into the race circuit and is expected to be quite popular among aficionados and race enthusiasts. The opportunity to purchase one for yourself may spark new interest in the sport of racing, and the eight race cup challenge will give car lovers plenty of chances to see this Mustang in action.

The Rehagen team is expected to perform well and many eyes will be on them as they make their way towards winning the coveted Miller Cup in 2008.
