1,000-Lap Challenge: Mustang V-6 Runs 1,457 Laps At Bristol
The 2011 Ford Mustang V-6, the first car ever to deliver more than 30 mpg and 305 horsepower, has set a new record by running 1,457 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway June 24 while averaging 48.5 mpg The challenge was 1,000 laps of the historic half-mile track -- 533 miles -- on one single tank of gas. With the aid of fuel efficient driving techniques by Ford engineers, the Mustang far surpassed its goal.

Drift King Gittin Designs Classic Mustang For SEMA
Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. is taking his design skills to SEMA, and to gaming consoles everywhere. Fresh from the success of his RTR 2010 Mustangs, Gittin is working his magic on a 1969 Mustang. The RTR-X will be unveiled at SEMA 2010, and feature in upcoming “Need for Speed” video games. “I have now taken the RTR brand full-circle back to 1969 - turning a ‘69 Mustang into a radical street/drift-styled machine to debut at SEMA 2010,” he says in his Speedhunters.com post where, apparently, he’ll be blogging right through the process.

Ford said just 50 Boss 302R units would be built, but lately a couple of sites have been reporting a change of plans.

2011 Mustang GT Shelby GT350 Makeover
Shelby American is prepping the shop floors for its first shipment of 2011 Ford Mustang GTs, cars that will take on the iconic appearance and name of Shelby GT350. The work will take place at the Shelby American subsidiary in Las Vegas. At the same time, the company continues to expand its Shelby Performance Parts division with products for the 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, GT500 and Shelby GT.
