When the crew at AmericanMuscle throws a party, you know it’s going to be a big one, and this year’s annual car show proved the point. More than 500 cars on display, more than 1,700 people through the gates and almost $15,000 raised for charity. Everybody say Yeah!
The team put together a day of fun and exciting events, including something new: the Dyno Dunk Tank competition. How does it work?
1. You list the modifications on your Mustang
2. The Dyno team guesses a target horsepower number
3. Beat the number, dunk the AM Girls!
The AM Girls, Stephanie and Melissa, were notably dropped in the water by a 3.4L Whipple Supercharged Cobra and Supercharged S197 V6 Mustang! With nearly 30 Mustangs strapped down to the dyno before the day was over, we estimated nearly 12,000-15,000 horsepower recorded throughout the day.
Deciding who took home the trophies was tough, but in the end these winners took home the hardware:
-- Cindy Iacocca & Family - 1st Place Specialty (2009 Iacocca Mustang)
-- Stephen Donapel - Runner Up Specialty (2009 Super Snake)
-- Rob Horner - Runner Up Specialty (2004 Mach 1)
-- Joe Ferro - 1st Place 05-11 (2008 Mustang GT)
-- Mary Mullin - Runner Up 05-11 (2006 Mustang GT)
-- John Bartholomew - Runner Up 05-11 (2011 Shelby GT500)
-- Emil Hibian - 1st Place 99-04 (2004 Cobra)
-- Janice Hall - Runner Up 99-04 (2000 Mustang V6)
-- Ralph D'Ambrosio - Runner Up 99-04 (2003 Cobra)
-- Wayne Stamps - 1st Place 94-98 (1998 Mustang GT)
-- Fred Tolin - Runner Up 94-98 (1998 Mustang GT)
-- Rich Nagle - 1st Place 79-93 (1993 Mustang GT)
-- Joe Caria - Runner Up 79-93 (1989 Mustang GT)
-- Ralph Tuckett - Runner Up 79-93 (1989 Mustang GT)
-- Ruben Tabares - 1st Place 1964.5-1978 (1969 Mach 1 428CJ)
-- Frank Hoover - Runner Up 1964.5-1978 (1969 Mach 1 428CJ)
-- Tim Brillhart - Runner Up 1964.5-1978 (1968 GT500KR)
-- Karen Baum - Employee Ride (2003 Mustang GT)
-- Valley Forge Mustang Club - Club Participation Award
As good as a car looks -- and there were some beauties there -- the package isn’t complete without the sound system. And we ain’t talkin’ speakers. The AM crew had a competition for that, too: the AmericanMuscle Muffler Rapping Competition.
The muffler rapping competition put the loudest Stangs of the show head-to-head in front of a rowdy crowd of enthusiasts! They love it or hate it, and they chose Brad Little from CT and his '04 GT.
Another great thing about Mustang shows is the inevitable collection of venders. With nearly 20 of the Mustang aftermarket's top manufacturers on site, there weren’t many questions you couldn’t get answered. Here’s just a sample of the booths and banners:
-- BBK Performance
-- H&R Suspension
-- SLP Performance
-- Nitto Tires
-- SCT Flash
-- Pypes Exhaust
-- Lloyd Mats
-- Drake Automotive
-- California Pony Cars
On top of that, AM hosted its own “Ask the Experts” booth to help fill the gap for the vendors who couldn't make it. Special guests included the Bama Custom Tuning team and many talented members of our customer service staff.
Now, there's nothing like getting a close view of 500+ of the top Mustangs from around the country. Nothing, that is, except a close view of the AmericanMuscle girls! Not only are these girls smokin' hot, but they collected thousands of dollars in raffle tickets sales for charity. If you missed them walking around the show (get that checked out!), we've got some video footage for you!
Just a tease, really. If you'd like to see more of these girls, pick up the AmericanMuscle 2010 Calendar. It will be available this month, or in the January issue of 5.0 Magazine on sale 11/9 - or Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords on sale 11/23
