As we told you a couple of days ago, former world drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. has unveiled his vision of the Ford Mustang - the RTR and RTR-C. More an appearance package than a performance tune, the RTR follows a design by Gittin with the help of Caleb Clark and Classic Design Concepts, and was introduced at SEMA this week. On Tuesday, a few more details became available.
Gittin says the Mustang aftermarket has missed an important niche. “There is no question that Mustang’s performance, quality and looks have evolved straight from the factory,” he stated in a release. “However, the majority of the Mustang aftermarket has not fully followed the progression with regards to aesthetics. I saw the need to get something out there that was different from traditional Mustang styling. Something that could open up a new set of eyes to the already-incredible Ford Mustang, while keeping the current Mustang enthusiast smiling.”

The Mustang RTR will be a dealer-installed kit for the 2010 GT, and a V-6 package is in the works. A limited number of dealerships will offer the package.
On the performance side, the stock GT will be beefed up with a set of Falken FK452, Ford Racing shocks and lowering springs, a meatier rear sway bar, cross-drilled and slotted rotors, sound-enhanced mufflers and a nine-horsepower boost courtesy of a Ford Racing tune and K&N air filter.
In the cosmetics aisle we find a newly designed chin spoiler and air splitter, side splitters and a rear diffuser. An aluminum rear spoiler tops the bolt-ons, and it’s all accented with a special stripe package, mats, badges and RTR-exclusive 19X9.5 wheels. On top of that, there are 10 colour combinations, so you shouldn’t have to worry about parking next to yourself at the Walmart. All this for an estimated $7,800 on top of the usual GT tag.

I feel like a proud father and cannot wait to see this car on the road. Trust me when I tell you, this Mustang is ready to rock!”
