At the third annual Ford Racing Invitational at the Milan Dragstrip in Michigan, the company unveiled their new body-in-white race car shells based on the 2010 Mustang. The shells, along with a variety or trim and wiring kits, will allow racers in many different classes to build their own Mustang race car.
Ford will begin taking orders for the shells in mid-July and will then have a production run in the fall for delivery by December. In order to avoid having excess inventory, Ford will only produce shells on preorders. The company plans to make this an annual tradition, so the next few years will also allow preorders in July and delivery by the end of the year. No word on pricing yet, but it'll probably be announced in the next week or two.
