Owners of the Mustang GT 4.6L 2V looking for a bit more straight-line oomph have a new option, thanks to the gasheads at Nitrous Outlet. The company’s new Mustang Nitrous Wet Kit EFI Plate System is designed for all 4.6L GTs from 1996 to 2004, and contains everything you need to put the boot back in your scoot. The nitrous and fuel are mixed inside the precision-machined nitrous plate, CNC milled from billet aluminum to take the factory-spec O-ring and anodized black for a strong finish in tough conditions. A dozen ports — six for fuel and six for nitrous — give the plate a 400-horsepower rating.
More aluminum was carved for the fuel rail adapter, another black-anodized piece designed to make the swap as straightforward as possible and assure your hungry beast never starves for fuel. The CNC machine was fed a little brass for the nitrous and fuel jets, three sets precision ground for hits of 50, 100 and 150 horsepower. If that’s not enough laughs for your pony, optional jets are available to max out the plate’s 400-horsepower plateau. Of course, once you start reaching for those numbers, you’re going to have to go a bit further than a simple bolt on, with attention to fuel delivery, engine internals and computer hardware. But you knew that. A pair of stainless steel-bodied solenoids flick the switches on the extra power. Heavy-duty, epoxy-cased coils have 14-gauge, colour-coded lead wires. Over on the nitrous side, national pipe thread ports control the inlet (1/4-inch) outlet and purge port (both 1/8-inch). The fuel solenoid has 1/8-inch NPT inlet and outlets, and both support that 400-hp shot. Carrying all that gas is a 10-pound bottle, powdercoated a nice, glossy black, with a 45-degree chromed valve that can open double the rest of the kit’s capacity at 800 horsepower. There is a pair of 1/8-inch NPT ports for gauges or sensors, and a pair of stainless straps to hold that baby down. Want more? How about all the braided lines, fittings, brackets, switches, relays, connectors and hardware you'll need to take advantage of that first 150 horsepower? Go from Zero to Hero with the help of Latemodel Restoration Supply & Nitrous Outlet today! After that, it’s up to you. — Ken Simmons Latemodel Restoration Supply 254-296-6587 - phone 254-296-6566 - fax http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/ |
