AFM Member Fred Kubitz's '07 Mustang GT |
When Sam Haymart organized the first Mustangs Across America for 1994, he didn't have the benefit of all the online social networking tools now available. Enthusiasts sites and social networks like MySpace and Facebook were still a ways away, so he did it the old fashioned way. As is posted on the organizations website, "many letters were written and flyers sent to clubs and Mustang magazines across the country." Well his hard work, and the hard work of those who created the organization with him, has paid off. The first ride had over 200 Mustangs, and, as of this writing, there are 639 Mustangs registered for this year's ride, representing drivers from 13 nations.
On Friday, April 10, there will be a welcome ceremony for the drivers in Las Vegas, and the crew will depart from there the next day. The whole trip will stretch across Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The final desitnation is Birmingham, Alabama, the site of the Mustang's 45th Anniversary Celebration. Not a bad trip for five days.

One of our own AllFordMustangs.com members, Fred Kubitz (you may know him better by the handle eod4paws) is going to be along for the ride. He departs from his northeastern Colorado home tomorrow with his son, and they'll be hooking up with the rest of the Mustangs Across America crew on Friday. Fred has been gracious enough to offer his services to us as an "on the ground" reporter for his trip, and he'll be taking lots of pictures.

We'll have a story about Fred soon, as well as a special forum thread and photo gallery where he'll be posting updates from the road. Stay tuned, and make sure to thank him!
