Given how efficient the current Mustang is, bolting on an aftermarket exhaust doesn't always make the power gains it did in the past. However, you can't deny that it adds a distinct rumble that can set your late-model steed apart from the rest.
That's something Corsa Performance has recognized for years, having developed its own Reflective Sound Cancellation (RSC) technology that not only provides a nice signature tone but also serves to eliminate the dreaded cabin drone that's so characteristic of many aftermarket systems. Via technology developed from the aerospace industry, RSC works by employing a straight-through muffler design that incorporates a 360-degree air gap. This gap targets sound waves to specifically engineered channels, which are then bounced back 180 degrees out of phase to the gap, essentially canceling out the drone.
Corsa's lineup for the 2011-2012 Mustang, includes an axle back system for the Mustang GT/Boss 302/Boss 302 Laguna Seca that's said to improve flow by up to 153 percent (rare for a modern aftermarket system) as well as delivering an increase of some 7 horsepower and 4 lb-ft of torque.
Corsa offers three specific components for the 2011-12 GT/Boss 302 and Laguna Seca models:
• Part number 14316, a Sport Exhaust system, which includes 4-inch tips etched with the Corsa logo.
• Part number 14317, a throatier Xtreme Exhaust system with 4-inch tips
• Part number 14318, an XO pipe designed to reduce backpressure and boost flow and power.
In addition, Corsa also offers Sport Exhaust axle-back systems for the base 2011-12 Mustang V6, which comes with 3.5-inch dual tips (Part number 14319) and Shelby GT500 with four-inch tips (Part number 14320).
All these systems are manufactured from premium stainless steel in the USA and the tips on each double-walled. Complete installation instructions are included, as is a limited lifetime warranty.
