Microsoft co-developed the SYNC system with Ford. SYNC first debuted in 2007 on the Ford Focus and since then has been installed on 80% of Ford's vehicle sales in North America. In 2008, SYNC received its first major upgrade, with two main added features: a Vehicle Health Report function and 911 Assist. The next update includes GPS Navigation with turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates, and internet functionality.
