The Steeda High Efficiency Heat Exchanger is meant to greatly increase the cooling abilities of your Ford Mustang so that your engine can deliver more power. As you can see from the above picture, the Steeda heat exchanger dwarfs the stock heat exchangers found on Shelby GT500 Mustangs, and Mustangs with Whipple, Magnacharger, or Roush superchargers. Why is a High Efficiency Heat Exchanger important to getting the most possible power? When a supercharger takes air and forces it into the engine, it must compress it. This compression generates a lot of heat. If you do not have a system in place to dissappate that heat (the Heat Exchanger), the cold air being inducted to the supercharger will be at a higher temperature. Higher temperature gases expand, making them harder to compress. That means that less oxygen will get into the combustion cylinder, and it will be mixed with less gasoline, and that will produce less power. The hotter your supercharger gets, the less efficient it is.
A good heat exchager will dissappate the heat, meaning that the air inducted into the supercharger is cool, and cool air is more easily compressed and forced into the combustion cylinders. The Steeda High Efficiency Heat Exchanger measures 6" tall, 4"deep, and 26" wide, and it delivers 166% of the cooling ability of the heat exchanger that comes stock on a Shelby GT500 Mustang.
