It sounds like the gearheads at AmericanMuscle were tickled pink when they got their hands on the 2011 Mustang GT. But as much as they loved their new car, they just had to give it a little personal touch, via the Bama Custom Tuning Team and a couple of prototype parts. The result? Gains of more than 25 horsepower and 30 foot-pounds of torque at the rear wheels.
You can see how the team got those results in the video above, but hereís what happened: The team took the spanking new GT to the dyno for a baseline pull. The 2011 5-liter laid down a 363-hp pull in stock trim, with 331 foot-pounds of torque. Next came a prototype C&L Performance cold air intake -- good for 374 hp and 338 ft-lbs.
The team tested their Bama custom tune first with the stock airbox, and found gains to the tune of 379 hp and 357 ft-lbs. With the full meal deal, custom tune and CAI, the dyno showed a 385-hp peak and 362-ft-lbs of torque. Those are numbers you canít argue with.
In addition to the rear wheel horsepower and torque gains, AmericanMuscle says drivers will experience better throttle response, faster/firmer shifting, and an overall increase in driveability. These hot new calibrations are available immediately, exclusively from AmericanMuscle.com.
Final production versions of the C&L cold air intake will be ready to purchase from AmericanMuscle before the end of summer, 2010. Check out the blog for more info.
