As part of this year's Barrett-Jackson collector car auction at Westworld, in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale, Speed TV, which will be broadcasting 40 hours live coverage of the event, will also be giving away a new Shelby GT500 for the Haggerty Fantasy Bid Game and Sweepstakes.
The car in question, is actually a one-of-a-kind Racing Champions Special Edition, boasting upgrades such as a Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger (helping boost power from 550 to approximately 750 hp); a C&R cooling system, 3.5-inch aluminum driveshaft, cosmetic enhancements, (including traditional Shelby style scoops on the quarter panels) along with a SVT handling pack that includes adjustable front struts and rear shocks, plus lowering springs that drop ride height by 1.25 inches.
Given the extra power on tap, the car also sports a Wilwood brake kit, with cross-drilled and slotted 14-inch front rotors, 12-inch rear rotors and forged calipers (six-piston units up front, four-piston out back).
The Haggerty Fantasy Bid Game has mushroomed in popularity since it's original debut at Barrett-Jackson, back in the heady days of 2005. To give you an idea of just how much it has grown. During the first game, some 66,800 total Fantasy Bids were registered; last year, the number was up to 699,200.
Entering the Sweepstakes for the chance to win the Mustang is pretty straightforward. Any time a contestant makes a bid during the Haggerty game, they are automatically placed into a drawing. The winner is then selected by random drawing from participating Fantasy Bid Players.
In regards to the special GT500 giveaway, Speed TV Executive Producer and senior vice president of Production and Network Operations Rick Miner, declared, "what more could you ask than winning a 'one-of-one' Shelby GT500? What is Barrett-Jackson all about if not one of one?" Indeed.
Live coverage of this year's Barrett-Jackson collector car auction begins on January 17 at 7 PM Eastern Standard Time on Speed Channel.
