Fun Ford Weekend Event in California Cancelled

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (September 23, 2005) American Autosports Productions, organizers of the Fun Ford Weekend racing series, announced the cancellation of the 3nd annual Pacific Fun Ford Weekend event at California Speedway in Fontana, California, today. The event was scheduled to run October 1st – October 2nd. American Autosports Productions is based outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and they are already feeling the effects of Hurricane Rita.

“Based on the weather outlook for the next few days combined with the situation in East Texas we felt it was best to stay put and not have our crews and trailers on the roads. We are still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina and with this new weather system it only setback our recovery efforts. We are keeping all our participants and fans in thoughts and prayers,” said Bill Alexander, Fun Ford Weekend president.

American Autosports Productions, produces fourteen Fun Ford Weekend events annually in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Kansas, New Jersey, Illinois, California, and Arizona. Fun Ford Weekend is a festival of exciting Ford power featuring heads-up classes, open comp classes, and bracket racing classes all competing for over 17,400,000 in purse, points and contingency awards. It is the only All Ford racing series sponsored by the Ford Division Mustang Brand Team.
