Edelbrock Heads and Intake for 1994 Mustang GT

I have used Edelbrock parts for years and I like building with a name I know and trust. I e-mailed Edelbrock and ask for their input regarding Heads, Intake, Cam and ect. Here is the response. Just thought I would share with all. I will get pricing today and share that later!!!!

Here is our Performer Ford EFI 50-state legal setup:

# 3821 Performer (idle-5500) manifold or # 7123 Performer RPM II manifold (1500-6500)
# 60379 (1.90”/1.60” valves) or # 60399 (2.02”/1.60” valves) cylinder heads
# 3722 Performer roller cam, for MAF engines only
# 7364 Gasket set, head, intake, header, valve cover gaskets
# 8552 head bolt set
# 9680 head bolt bushings (required for 289-302 motors)
This combination makes 300HP. We recommend Crane pedestal mount rocker arms for these heads. Thanks

Summit Racing Costing 4-6-08

#3821 Performer Manifold $529.95
#60379 1.90” Cylinder Heads $585.50 X 2 = $1,171.00
#3722 Performer Cam $241.95
#7364 Gasket Set $97.95
#8552 Head Bolt Set $59.95
#9680 Head Bolt Bushings $49.95
#44746-16 Crane Pedestal 1.7 Roller Rocker Arms $179.95
Roller Lifters (average price) $150.00

Edelbrock does make some nice stuff but wow thats expensive. I would look at the Trick Flow and Holley kits. Also are they saying 300 at the crank or tires?

You can do better than that, price and power wise.

Looking at summit's site ,the trick flow kits come in at $2500.00 and you still need the throttle body adapter and strut brace so the difference in price is not much.I have always used edelbrock stuff in the past and have never had a problem with quality or fit.I have never used any tfs stuff but I hear it is quality stuff as well so it comes down to preference

Like you, I've used a lot of Edelbrock stuff over the years. Always with good results.

I would use the bigger heads, 60399. EFI is not nearly as sensative to velocity as a carb is. At lower rpm's you won't see a differance. And higher rpm's the engine will make more power.

Stock ratio rocker arms ar 1.6. With that cam, you have .498 lift. If you increase the rocker ratio to 1.7, your valve lift is .529. Check with Edelbrock and see what max lift is with those heads. Also, ask about piston clearance.

Yeah, I do once in a while. I was so busy last year that I didn't get over there much. I usually drive the FFR Cobra when I go.

Did you go to the Super Show and Swap at the Phil Long center a couple of weeks ago? We were there; we took first in class.

Hey, that's about what I am doing only mine's carbed and using the carb rpm intake. I have the 2.02 valves and they are ported. I won't have it running for a while though. One thing I noticed is this.... That cam, I looked it up on summit's web site and iit seems to be the same as the ford e303 cam. Maybe the lobes ramp up differently? Anyways, the e303 is about $170 and the edelbrock is $240. I know you want to go edelbrock, but the ford cam is great quality for the same thing. So just an idea. I bought the e303.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. Oh yeah, the quality of the heads is very nice!

God Bless You
