1994 Mustang GT Water Pump Replacment

I just realized that my water pump is leaking a little bit. I see jegs has a stock replacement for only 53.00. Should be just what I need. I have never changed a waterpump before. It looks very simple its right there and nothing seems to be in the way. Does anyone recomend a DIY to do this. And are there any suggestions? And Im sure this is the water pump I need everything on the engine is stock so this water pump should be fine if its not will you please let me know?

water pump replacement is relatively simple...

That is the water pump for your car,,,,,

my suggestion to you would be ......

Pickup a Chilton service manual the procedure with be outlined complete with pics....

Go with a good high volume water pump Milodon and Edelbrock are good, not just stock replacement. Also while you are changing pump, replace thermostat with a 180 Mr. Gasket is about the best and replace the hoses. This saves having to replace later. Might be a good time to replace stock radiator.

That job shouldn't take but an hour and a half, it's really simple. There shouldn't be any surprises.

If the pump is old enough to be leaking, your hoses are most likely old too. Replace them while you have the coolant system drained, hoses corrode from the inside out and split when you least need them to. Best time to change them is now.

Just changed the water pump what would be the best way to fill up with coolant without giving the engine any trouble? I should fill the radiator directly right? Not the overflow tank right?

correct.....

fill the radiator first....

make sure to get all the air out the the system and then top off the over flow to the correct level

Fill the radiator & overflow/coolant reservoir with the same 50/50 mixture, and leave the cap off.

Leave the radiator cap off, turn the engine on and let it run until the radiator "burps": You will see the coolant level drop and may see or hear a large air bubble come to the top as the system burps.
