Is the Roush short throw shifter any good?

I have always loved the look of the roush shifter package. A while back I ended up buying an mgw short throw and love the way it feels, but I have always wanted the look of that roush style handle. Had I realized before I could not mount the handle on the mgw I may have ended up with a different shifter In any case it isn't that big of a deal, I was just wondering if the shifter was any good in the event that I buy one in the near future. I was also thinking I could trade my mgw for a 5.0 and then stick the handle on that, but I'd like to know if the roush shifter is any good first. Is there something to compare it to? Such as a steeda tri ax or any other brands out there? Thanks guys.

well nevermind. I was looking through the jegs catalog and I found the shifter for 94-04 w/ short throw base and all the other goodies, but when I looked it up on the website they didn't have it. So chances are I'll have to get a 5.0 and get the package from americanmuscle.

I've got a deal cookin for a used pro 5.0 shifter. Is it a good idea to buy a used shifter? I'll post pictures of it when the guys sends them to me.

The seller says that it was rebuilt by pro 5.0 what does this mean?

it could mean a couple of different things...

It could mean it is a re-manufactured item...as in it was manufactured, and then didn't meet specs so it was rebuilt, and then re-sold at a discount...

Or, it could mean that it was purchased new, and broke, and was sent in for warranty repair, and was subsequently fixed under warranty.

To make sure, why not ask him? Either way, I am guessing it means it was broken at some point in time...

Just sent him a message asking him about it. If it was broken would a rebuild fix all problems?

The guy said that he bought the car with the 5.0 already there so he sent it to pro 5.0 to have it rebuilt which consisted of new shift stops and remachining of the ball. This was done last summer. Seems like a good deal to me I think I shall go for it. He is shipping the shifter first so I'll determine if I like it and let you guys know how it works out.

Well yeah if he's shipping it to you first, why not check it out and see? Nothing to lose there. Good luck.
