1994 Mustang GT HP estimate.

I have been thinking about getting some upgrades for my car. I am just wanting to know what HP gains i should expect. I currently looking to get GT40 heads, ported and polished, a mild roller cam, and an explorer intake.
Thanks
TP

Not to be a jerk or anything, but this question has been answered countless times. This will actually be my 3rd time to answer this question.

But back to your topic... The usual HP numbers with the GT40 setup are around 250-280HP. Since the heads are ported expect closer to 280ish.

Of course, the higher numbers would be with a good exhaust system including long tube headers and aftermarket mid-pipe/cat-back.

-1994 Mustang GT "The Red Baron": 3.73 gears,K&N filter,GT40 tubular intake,BBK Full Length Headers,modified midpipe & Flowmaster muffs, timing at 12*. Best time- 14.74 @ 93.16

Told you so 302feen! He is right about the hp though. You should also be sure to get a good tune afterwards otherwise gains will be minimal at best.

What does everyone thing about Ford's b303 cam? I'm really considering purchasing it.

I don't understand people's obsession with these alphabet cams.... Yes, they're decent cams, but wouldn't you rather get something that WASN'T designed almost 20 years ago?

I think you should REconsider and buy the Trick Flow Stage 1 cam.

And honestly, since you only have the GT40 setup, the stock cam is actually working best with those right now. Changing to an aftermarket cam won't give you enough gains to justify the cost and headaches of a cam swap.

i second that if your going with the gt40 set up just go with 1.7rr its been proven that with just gt40 heads 1.7rr and full exhaust and timeing set at 14 you gain about 40hp but if your going with intake ported to match you could gain 50 to 60hp and save a little money and time by not doing a cam swap

96 GT 5sp Mac CAI, Mac H pipe,Mac cat back, C&L plenum,255lph,b&m short throw, auburn pro series differential,31 spline axles, ford racing drive shaft, center force clutch,3.73 gears, TKO600, Bama Tune

04 exploer limited

95 vert gt 5sp SOLD!

DOnt do a cam swap I wouldnt even suggest the head swap intake yes. The heads at best ported will provide 30-40hp unported like 25. The intake will provide a couple by itself but will be a bigger advantage later. My suggetstion save for the TFS TW's. And a better cam.

And no car with gt40 anything will gain from a tune. You need the tune when you start using bigger injectors and massive cams with special features lobe seperation blah blah blah. You can run any gt40 items with stock injectors.

Gas mileage will not change much if any. You are not talking about building a race car this is basically the cobra pkg with a better computer setup.

By the way if its any help I gained 30hp with gt40p heads, tfs intake, and an X cam. Biggest waste of $ ever! Took 10# of boost and meth to push air through this motor. TFS intake, TW heads or AFR 185 and custom cam would have pushed twice that power and wouldnt have costs but about $600 more.
