Help swapping a 5.0 into a 1999 mustang ?please

hi, I just bought a 95 mustang gt donor car to swap the engine into my 99 mustang v6 with a blow head gasket, since the emission is not an issue ,well I started swapping everthing and it went pretty good ,motor is in,tranny,exhaust,ecu harness,etc, but the only problem is hooking up the 3 connectors by the computer plug under the dashboard on the passenger side since they are a different shape and don't match the ones on the 99 mustang v6 and it looks like the one from the 99 mustang has more wires than the 95 mustang gt, I was just reading the thread about this guy swapping a 5.0 into a 99 mustang gt and I saw someone gave this guy an idea using a computer harness from an explorer or mountanier and I'm just wondering if you'd give me a hand and tell me how to do this swap? Or, if you know the pinout on those connectors from the 99 mustang v6 and the 95 5.0 ecu harness so I can cross wires to make it work, I can send pictures if necessary. I really need help from the mustang master guys.I appreciate any help thanks.

icant help. but the build sounds fun, is the 5.0 motor stock? r u gonna build it? if so wut? and what are you useing for a rear-end? the 7.5 in ur v6 or the 8.8 off the 5.0 body? and is it a stick or auto? useing same gears in the Rear-end? haha sorry for all the Q's im just curious!

I would think you would have to buy a computer that goes to a 95 GT. Especially given that they did different things 99+ versus 94/95.
I'm not sure there is a product that can adapt them for you. However I could be verrrrrry wrong.

yeah the motor is stock so far with a 95 cobra intake and is my original standar from my v6 the fits rigth in and about the rear end I still have it the 7.5 stock from the car but Im thinking swap a gt off it 99-04 mustang gt

If the '95 still has the computer in it, use that as well as the rest of the wiring harness. The v6 transmission might not last very long, and it might be a good idea to replace it with a heavy-duty T5. Make sure you use the 94/95 input shaft and bellhousing with it, as the later t5s are slightly longer to put the shifter farther back. Also, the 7.5 likely won't last very long either, so you may want to replace that soon. And a slightly stiffer suspension will bring the handling and ride back in line, too.

Proud owner of a '65 289 coupe w/ C4 (for now). Equipped with Edelbrock Performer intake, 600 cfm carb, Comp Cams Xtreme Energy valvetrain with XE262H cam, Hedman longtube headers, MSD ignition, and ported heads. Suspended by 600# 1" drop front and stock rear springs, KYB shocks front, 1" front sway bar, 1" Shelby drop, Griggs Racing GR350 rear suspension. Many more mods to come!

Is the '95 donor car complete? With rear end, transmission, computer, etc.?

If so, just swap everything over to the '99. They are basically the same body/chassis so everything should go right in. Although I have heard that the New Edge rear ends are slightly wider than the SN95's...

Yes, the new edge rear ends are ~3/4" wider. 7.5s are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. They will handle 450 HP, just not with slicks bolted to it. With an almost stock 5.0 swapped in your V6 rear will be fine.
Remember guys, LS1 powered F-body cars only ever had 7.5" rears from the factory.

Anyway, pictures of your wiring harnesses that don't match up would be priceless

Would that 3/4" +/- make enough difference to matter? That doesn't seem like it'd be drastic enough to make it not fit.

Did those Chevys use the SAME 7.5" rear end the V6 Mustang uses?

Actually, the extra 3/4" width will help fill out the wheel wells a bit better. I think there's about 1" between the fender and the wheel, so the wider axle will put the wheels 3/8" closer to the fenders on each side.

Chevys don't use the exact same 7.5" rear as Fords do, but they are very similar. People talk about the 7.5 and 8.8 like they are two completely different animals. Both rear ends use the same:
-Axle bearings (on mustangs and rangers, F150s have bigger bearings on their 8.8s)
-Axle shafts (Same case as above)
-Pinion bearings

The only difference is the diameter of the ring gear, but more importantly the contact width of the gearset. I'm not denying the 8.8 is a much stronger piece, but unless someone is making a bunch of cheater slick passes with a mild build, it is not going to break immediately. If treated with respect it will last a long time.

As for the width, in my opinion 94-98 rear ends are about an inch too narrow. There is a reason they widened it for the new edge cars. Notice that new edge cars fill out their rear wheel wells better than SN95 cars do with the same wheels. This is why.

One advantage is that 7.5" V6 cars came with a 3.45 gearset, while most 8.8" V8 cars came with 2.73s, 3.08s or 3.27s if you're really lucky.

I know this thread is a little old, but I figured I'd chime in on this thread as it contains some useful information and I'm in the process of doing this exact same swap.

As far as the 99 V6 T5 being week, that's not the case. It is actually stronger than most stock T5's that Ford installed prior.

Basically to do this swap you need all the harnesses in the car to be changed: Body harness, engine harness, dash harness, all of them!

OP, did you ever get yours finished up? How did it turn out? Pics/Vids???

1999 Mustang - Converted to 94 spec 5.0 EFI,
Vortech V2 SQ 12 psi, BBK shorties, Edelbrock Perf. intake,
