How to clean out the fuel system especially the fuel lines???
Hello again still rebuilding my 95 gt and after sitting since 2006 with the fuel lines disconnected and a tank full of gas(probably varnish by now) I imagine it's pretty dirty in there. I was going to clean out the tank with a brush and some fresh gasoline in a well ventilated area that has no sources of ignition. I've bought a set of rebuilt 19lb injectors which I hope should be enough for a mostly stock 351w. The only thing is I'm not totally sure on what the best method is for cleaning out the fuel lines and the fuel rails. I will be buying a short length of goodyear fuel injection line so I can increase the spacing between the fuel rails for the 351w's wider lower intake.
What I'm not sure about is how to clean out the feed and return lines. I read somewhere that you should put paint thinner(:?:won't that damage the o rings?) or alcohol in the fuel lines and then blow them out with about 50psi air pressure until the cleaning solvent comes out clear. Is this the preferred method? Is their a better solvent I can use that won't damage the o rings or any other rubber fittings in my fuel system. I don't want to gum up a newly rebuilt engine and injectors with whatever craps been festering in that fuel system for the last 4-5 years any input would be greatly appreciated.:hihi:
