X or H pipe? Catted or not? Old question but need some advise

I have to replace my stock H pipe, one of the cats is breaking up. I am trying to decide on either the X for more performance and power and a louder sound or the H for the deeper sound from the exhaust. I have 2.5" MagnaFlow cat back exhaust on it now. I really want the sound to be a very deep growl and not a very loud and obnoxious sound, I want it to be heard when I get on it. I am thinking that I want to do the X without cats but I want to know what to do with the O2 sensors to bypass them or eliminate them without computer errors. I think that I could save some money doing the o/r X if I can find a way to bypass the o2 sensors, get more power, and be a little louder. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

There is no reason to get catalytic converters unless you have emissions testing. Off road pipes look better, sound better, and are cheaper.
..... Well, or if you actually believe that because Mustang enthusiasts running without emissions will cause global warming, which of course will be end of us all
As far as performance, there are very minute differences between X and H-pipes. Generally, Hs will make more low end power and Xs will make more top end power. But the differences are very minute - I mean 2-3 HP minute. The main difference is the sound. Hs have a more classic hot rod muscle car sound, Xs are more raspy and.... Well just sound different. Youtube vids of 5.0 cars with both versions and see what you like better.
IMHO, from what you described you are looking for in sound, I think you will be happier with an H-pipe. I have an H, and it is definitely loud when you get on it.
EEC-IV cars don't have downstream oxygen sensors. These are the ones modular motor guys eliminate, their cars have 4 O2 sensors. The ones our cars have are upstream of the catalytic converters, they don't care what happens downstream. Plus, the computer program needs readings off of them to function properly. Simply reinstall your 2 current O2 sensors in your replacement mid pipe (assuming they are good).

Any of the bolt on aftermarket long tube headers or if you go w/ short tube, that I have seen have a bung welded in them for 02's

If your not breakin' parts your not building enough power. Big cube small blocks ROCK!

I like the sound of the offroad X-pipe, but its not a deep growl. Also my offroad pipe has bungsfor the o2 sensors.

Without the cats you will have a very stinky exhaust. Do a search to see what others have discovered. I would go with an O/R H pipe with high flow spun metallic cats. You will get the sound without the smell.

I've had 6 mustangs & 2 thunderbirds now & everyone of them I have installed o/r h & x pipes, I personally like the tone the x pipe makes. I have never had any smelly exhaust issues.

I dunno, I smell my exhaust a little at a stop light, but I don't run tail pipes. It exits right behind where I sit, so I expect a little smell.
