Unhappy 1995 mustang gt cuts off without warning

I just purchased this 1995 mustang gt and it has been cutting off on me sometimes when I give it gas from a dead stop. It gives no warnings, or sounds before or after it shuts off. When the engine cuts off, the radio and lights are still working. I am able to immediately start the engine back up with no problem too. I have also been driving and I would see the check engine light blink one time really fast, then it turns off. When I bought the car, it already has a aftermarket cold air intake.. I also hear a whistling noise from that as well, but I think that's normal. Also the car acts like it wants to drive on its own in drive, while I have the brake engaged.. Can someone please tell me what I should do. I have recently got an oil change, trans fluid flush, and a sea foam.. Should I get a complete tune up (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve/filter, 02 sensor, ignition wires, setting timing) and where should I go??? Or should I replace my throttle positioning sensor first? Any help would help me a lot..

hey, it could be lots of things. Before i go on and just blind fully replace all the things u mentioned, id rather test things, specially if your short on money, as you might need something really useful which is at fault here and not just a tune. that said, i dont know ur level of knowledge but id check TPS sensor for correct range and function, id check pretty much every sensor first. But really a tps usually is at fault for this.

I would have the trouble codes pulled at your favorite parts store. It's free and it will help point you to the real problem. That is what this procedure is for and probably the first thing you should do when you have these type issues. Report back with what codes the computer has stored and we can go from there.

So I have a very similar issue with my 95 GT and I have replaced pretty much everything you have listed in your original post. haven't messed with the timing though. It still does it.

But here's the kicker.
If I put my stock h-pipe back on, the problem goes away. I've swapped the O/R with the stock 3-4 times. Everytime stock is on never have a problem. Put the O/R back on. Problems.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?

i wish my issue was that simple. so many things are happening at one time that i can track where to look first and alot of the problems don't make any sense...

1995 Mustang Cobra, 5.0 V8, T5 transmission

*currently under restoration*

could you repeat all of that, I wasn't listening???
