1995 gt with a 347 stroker..older style block and firing order???

i have 1995 gt with a 347 stroker i bought the car with the motor already in it. it looks like it has the older style firing order and the stock computer is still in it. i have been having a few problems with the motor and i was wondering if this could be the issue. thanks

It doesn't make a difference how old the block is, the camshaft determines the firing order. What is the firing order of this engine? What computer is the car using?

If that is the firing order and it is using a non-HO cam, without a tune/chip (or swapping injector connections) you will have running problems.

Out of curiously, is it a hydraulic roller valvetrain? If it isn't (which I suspect it's not) you could just get an HR cam, hydraulic lifters, and go from there.

The stock harness will work fine.

What computer are you using? Has it been tuned (does it have a chip)?i

The injector harness may have to be modified to match the non-HO firing order...

If all the fuel injectors are plugged in the stock sequence and the engine is using an non-HO firing order then yes, that is a problem. I have read of (at least) one guy simply switching the injector plugs to correspond to the correct firing order. He said it worked great, and it makes sense, but I don't have first hand experience doing so.

The injection is working under the assumption that you have the correct firing order. That is definitely a problem.

The proper solution is to swap in a cam with the correct firing order. Either a 302 HO or 351w cam would do that.

The McGyver solution is to rewire the injector harness to the non-HO firing order.
