Any SVO is a good SVO. the horsepower differences were practically all ECU related. if you dont like the 1984.5 SVO power output, swap in a later model SVO PE ECU. or better yet, re-pin and go with an LA2 or LA3 for manual
tranny SVO's (or LB2 or LB3 for Auto Cars) These computers are found in Late Model Turbo Coupes (1987-88) and go to town with some happy mods... Header... Bigger turbo... Port and polish... Possibilities are endless with the SVO or any 2.3T Powered Car.
I have Seen numbers go as high as 300+ HP with a turbo 2.3L car. and for a lot less $$$ than the Honda "Ricer" "Fart Can" "Bumble Buggy" "Grocery Cart" Guys put out just to get STOMPED by my Merkur XR4Ti!!! LOL
My merkur isnt hitting any more than its 175HP but it sure whips hondas into shape real quick. It may not be an SVO but it is a turboford 2.3L. so before you guys scream Import at me? it is a Ford at least!!!
LOL
long story Short... an SVO is an SVO (looks change very slightly from year to year)... unless you plan on leaving it COMPLETELY STOCK!
