Finally! It's engine swap time after owning and driving the 2.3 for a long while, my little Sally drop top needs to grow a pair! And this weekend, I'll be picking up a beauiful running 5.0 HO drivetrain and all out of a '89 lx 5.0. Engine, aod trans, driveshaft, rearend from drum to drum, computer, harness, speedometer, etc. It'll probably be until summer time till the actual swap takes place but can't wait till then. I'll be picking up the parts this saturday after work. 2 words to describe my little pony when I get her new gas sucking heart in: holy mods! So I'll be having a ear to ear grin on my face when im strapped in behind the wheel and shedding tears when I'm at the gas pumps. $3.47 here for 87 and thats what it is now, summertime, $4.00+

hahah congrats! cant wait till i decide to go from 2.3 over to 5.0! make sure to have pics would love to see the work in progress!, ps haha be thankful you rgetting the gas in gallons up here in canada we pay almost 2 dollars at times for one litre at the pump! haha enjoy though!

Well yesterday the guy said for $50 more I can keep the WHOLE car and he'd deliver it. So out in my driveway sits a '89 lx 5.0 now, I'll have pics in a little of my new parts car!

I payed 3.54 for 87 today for gas. My 2.3 is getting 21mpg. My grandpa's 87 5.0 Hi-Po hatchback gets 21 mpg. So It wouldn't be any difference for me. I think I am going to try to add some horses to my car so I can get better gas mileage.

I use to have a 94 gt and when I drove nice I got 22 mpg. the problem is driving nice....my svo only got 23mpg.

im in the progress of this swap as well, i love 5.0s. but i would like to build a hot 2.3 someday. these V8 cars with an ovedrive get pretty good gas mileage if you drive easy though
