Anyone ever raced with a 2.3?

So I was looking through some of the other sections and occaisonal you'll see something like "lost to a trans am or something like that", and I was just wondering if anybody raced with a 2.3 mustang street/strip.

why its got more torque than alot of 4cyl's my brother has a 00 escort zx2 with a z-tech motor that has 130 hp compared to our 105 hp but it only has 127 foot pounds of torque compared to our what 145 or 135 foot pounds of torque and it isnt hp doesnt give you off the line quicker its torque that does it.

Yep I raced my little 2.3L, look on the kill stories section for a post called the most hilarious 4 cyl race for the whole story, but I did race..a toyota prius...

nope I don't race mine. I don't want to lose.. If I don't race I wont lose lol. One of my buddys has an '87 toyota celica gt he wants to race me. I was kind of wanting to race my friend that has a 2.9 v6 in his ranger I think I would probably lose though

if you want to see some 4 cylinders fly look up you tube and svo or huber. see some of his runs down the track.

I took my 78 Mustang to the dragstrip. My highly built 2.3 makes 150 hp, Carbed and NA, but the Mustang II is very heavy compared to a fox, so now, im shopping for a turbo 2.3 fox i can build.

BTW i ran a 20 second quarter mile when my trans crossmember broke. And im still stuck with 3.18 rear end gears.

If i put the 8 in with 3.55s, that time will drop quite a bit, and if i dont break my fricken crossmember, and am able to put it into 2nd gear, itll probably drop quite a bit. That was a bad day at the track. GRR!

But 2.3s can make power, mine can leave a nice thick 30 ft peel mark, non posi, but its 225/50 R15 tire. So potential is their. Go for it!

Its actually the other way around. The fox is heavy compared to the II.

No way, my Ghias GvWr is like 3810, most foxes are in the low 3000s.
