Unhappy My 1993 Mustang 2.3 won't start!

Ok so I am 16 and I bought a 1993 2.3 convertible mustang off a used car shop. I drove it and put on about 7 miles and the next morning when i tried to start it it didn't start. I noticed the night before that there was oil on the ground where it sat. My first thought was a blown head gasket, but when i tried to start it, it sounded like it needed gas (I had half a tank of gas). Does anyone know of anything that may be causing this to happen? Is it common in the 2.3's? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Conv2.3

I had a similar problem when I bought my Mustang
It ended up being the fuel pump.

Do you hear a slight "whirr" sound comming from the rear of the car when you turn your key to run (not start)
If you don't, most likely fuel pump

And about your "oil leak"
can you see where the leak is originating from?
If you can't, make sure you check the fluids often so you can tell whats leaking, so you might be able to know where to look to fix it.

Wow your good... Well the other day I had to have a tow truck take it down to the garage. They also thought it was the fuel pump and they put a new one in and I was able to drive it home. But yet again when I wanted to go to autozone to get some fuel injector cleaner the car would not start. So I had it towed again and the mechanic said he will keep it until he figures it out. I owned the car 1 1/2 days and already I have a 350$ garage bill.

There is a box under the hood that has about 15 or so wires comming from it that is attached to the fenderwall on the passenger side of the car (assuming that our almost identical cars had things installed in identical places)
This box controls the fuel pump (it has the relay inside) as well as relays for some other items.
I had to replace mine soon after my fuel pump due to it failing randomly causing my car to stall out in traffic. I would not be able to start it for 5-10 minutes, and in an intersection, that is not a good place to be sitting.
I would have your mechanic check to make sure that isn't faulty.
Also, its a part that I had to get from a dealership :O

I'm going to run to my car and see if I can see what its called...

[edit] And its just covered in numbers. Its attached to the body of the car, it somewhat stands out from the other electronics that are in the engine bay. I don't think the mechanic should have a hard time finding it.

Thanks vb93vert, I will look into that. I do apologize for not putting this into the tech area. I will do so next time I have issues with my mustang.

I had this exact problem with mine. Turned out to be the transmission.

ICM module. Sometimes overheats and quits. Next time overheats. Try cooling it off with ice pack and see it starts. Like I have read quite expensive. Sorry couldn't find better picture. Here is one on my 93 Black box [white label on it]on passenger shock strut to rear of maf. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/100_0273.jpg
