Cool 1987 Mustang Engine Swap

I have an 87 LX 2.3L. I was thinking about doing an engine swap to something bigger, but not sure what to go for. I have a friend who dropped a 408 in his and uses it for drag racing. Any ideas or stories of your own swaps would be nice.

It depends on what you plan to do with your stang (daily driver, drag racing etc.). I recommend that you get a 302 5.0L motor, build into a 331 stroker and down the road install a supercharger or some juice. That would be ideal for a daily driver / part time drag racer.

I plan on using my stang for daily driving right now. Since I use it to go to college and need good gas mileage. During college I plan on going turbo. I've already got most of the parts, just need an intercooler. Turbo is the way to go for me and not the 5.0 since I'll get the 5.0 HP with the 4 cyl gas mileage. I'll occasionally go to the strip but nothing to extreme for now.

Alright, any ideas/estimates on what it would take to rebuild it and make it turbo ready?

Well I have actually gotten my parts from a 84 SVO. I didn't want to have to tear out its internals, I would have rather wanted to restore it but it would cost way more. Someone on here was selling the 2.3T engine but disassembled for about $500. The parts seperately will vary from pricing, I'm not exactly sure on their pricing.
