Hi there my mustangs transmission just recently started to leak ATF. I was wondering, what transmission is behind a 1988 2.3L Mustang. Also does anyone know any areas which would leak on these transmissions? Thanks for any help/tips

The transmission is an A4LD. I've got one in my 88. They're junk unfortunately. As for leak areas, one place they are prone to fail is at the front pump seal. They have also been known to leak from a cracked converter, the quick connect cooler lines, and the tailshaft seal. Once you have your leak fixed, I would HIGHLY suggest the addition of an aftermarket transmission cooler.
