Default 2.3L vs SVO differences

speaking engine wise, what are the differences

obviously the turbo, but what about the block/internals/top end etc etc

basically I'm swapping a 2.3L into a little project of mine and want to get a bit of balls out of it. I don't think affording an SVO build-up is anywhere in this cars near future... so I'm just wondering if it is do-able to mess with a regular 2.3L, swap a few parts, maybe a cam or soemthing, and get a bit of extra kick out of it?

whats the major differences between a 2.3L and an SVO 2.3

cheers

well to start the connecting rods and pistons are forged, rather then cast iron, the head is ported more, the valve covers are diff, the intake manifold, the rear end is a 8.8 i think not sure, etc

The 2.3T has 7.5 rear. I think the 8.8 didnt come in until the 1986 v8s, although the 8.8 is a replacement for the 7.5 straight bolt in. 4 wheel disk brakes, t5 transmission, intercooler, plus what was said above.

I happen to be lucky enough and have both. All I need now is a 5.0.

lucky, but dill you could put a mild cam and 4.10 gears and that would really change it up, also ofcourse exhaust and a cai would help

yeah i figured a mild cam and an intake or something motor wise, should get the thing going pretty decent.

car weighs about 880kg's...1900lbs or so.

any ideas about porting the stock head? anyone tried it with any good results?

the crank, rods and block are the same for all the 2.3s (material wise), turbo motor or not

The SVO has a different head alltogether.

The EECs are different.

the exhaust manifolds are different (accomodates the turbo)

the only thing different about the valvecover is the wording on it.

The cam is different to prevent excessive valve overlap (it's a turbo thing).

1900 pounds? that would have to be without a drivetrain and more. The SVO weighs in at 2995 full dress.

Not sure about the NA 2.3s, but the SVO engine has an oil cooler.

sorry I meant what I plan to put it into weighs about 1900lbs, its a 1977 toyota corolla

making a little tuner car for a daily driver and didnt want a honda civic hatchback but I don't wanna stick in a motor from a 4runner or soemthing.... after all I am a ford guy.

so you think its safe to say that a stock 2.3L with a mild cam, exhaust, and maybe an intake would be a decent package?
