Default 1993 2.3 lx problem

Ok, so three days ago I put some oil in my 2.3 and over filled it a little. I fired it up and it ran fine for about 3 min. Then I put it in grear and drove it about 100ft and it backfired and died, it would not start so i towed it back home and it sat for 3 days. So today I cleaned off the spark plugs and replaced a spark plug wire and it started up fine, the exaust was clean also. Then i checked the oil and there was basicly none left so i put half a qt in it and turned it over and checked it, It showed up as if there was no oil, i added the other half qt of oil and started it up and checked the oil and it said there was none. The only thing i can think of is that the oil is going out the exaust which i think because there is a little oil around the exaust tip. But the car ran fine, if oil had been draining out the exaust then it would of fouled a plug or at least the exaust would be gray but it was clean. What it up here?

If it were me, I would start all over again. Change the oil and put in the proper amount. Put in new plugs and keep an eye on them. They should tell you something about the condition of the motor. Of course, your oil drain plug is tight, right?

yeah it's not leaking out of the plug, it's engine is in great shape it's head was rebuilt 5,000 miles ago and it's engine has 48,000 miles on it. Yeah i think starting over would be the best thing to do

If you change the oil and this still happens check all the spark plugs and if there is any on one of them than you probably had a ring go and its leaking in to the cylinder. Hope that helped a bit.
