On the passenger side of the transmission where the tail housing is bolted on to the main case, there is a metal trim tag on 1 of the bolts. On that tag are 2 rows of information. If you can find the tag and post the letters and numbers off of it, I can decipher it for you.
Most of the T5's came with a 3.35 1st gear, 1.99 2nd, 1.33 3rd, 1:1 4th and a .68 5th. Some came with 3.75 1st gear, 2.19 2nd, 1.44 3rd and 1:1 4th with a .72 5th.
Still yet, others came with a 2.95 1st, 1.94 2nd, 1.34 3rd, 1:1 4th and a .63 5th.
Because there are several options, we really need to know the numbers on the tag.

Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.
