I have a 1984 SVO that needs a front clip and some interior peices. I am wondering if possible, what all will it take to make a 1993 cobra clone. Moderators if this is the wrong section, please move. Thank you
It would be much easier to find the few pieces for your svo. Plus you get to keep the originality and value of the car.
I agree. Converting your car kills all of the value it has as an SVO. Lots of people have cloned '93 Cobras. You could probably find a clone car relatively cheap. Either that, or buy a V8 Fox and clone it into a Cobra; it doesn't take that much to make one a passable fake.

I'm good friends with Paul Becker. He owns SVP Unlimited in Odenville AL. He is an admin of on one or all of the SVO forums sites. He owns 2 SVO's and even makes some obsolete parts. He either would have the stuff you need to go oem or can point you in the right direction. He owns 2 award winning SVO's. He is the man when it comes to getting stuff you need. There website is: SVPU - Special Vehicle Products Unlimited
Or you can call thier shop: 205-629-3126
I think you should stay oem, they aren't making anymore SVO's and I think they kick ass!

Yea I have thought about finding an SVO front clip, but the thing is the car is getting a ls1/6speed combo so it wont have the original motor or trans, and i picked up the car for free... i am just trying to kinda budget build this and picked up a semi-complete roller for free, and a stock pullout 5.3 for 300 bucks. But in the end i want the look of a 93 cobra and if i need to start with an 87-93 ill switch now
Please keep it original. Rare car. You can take any Mustang and do what you want to do. Sell it make money and buy a shell and do whatever to it. My 2cents worth.
If you want an 87-93 go buy one!!! Then make it look like a Cobra. Plus no matter what you do to the SVO it will never look right...EVER! You can sell the SVO shell to someone who wants to buy it and make some cash then go buy what you want. Ford made very few SVO's and they weren't all that common when they were new now think of them 20+ years later.
LS1 6 SPEED???? That is a waste of a SVO. Svo's are gaining recognition from collectors and gaining in value. My 1983 t-top coupe is appaised at $25,000 after I finished the ground up on it.
I dont look at it as a waste...im putting it back on the road..granted not as an svo but as a 93 cobra clone ls1 6speed powered mustang....better than the crusher dont you think?
It is better than the crusher. But why can't you leave it looking like an SVO and drop your drive train of choice in? That would be a lot cheaper. Okay take a look at this Mustang. It was an 86 GT. Someone put a 87-93 nose one it. You may get lucky and your Cobra clone will look this good....
Do it, it's your car, I'm doing the same to my 1984 svo, I put word out unless someone trades me a chromoly caged, mini tubbed foxbody hatch for my ragged out svo, it's getting turned into a 1993 cobra true street drag car. Remember the car is only worth as much as someone is willing to you pay for it.
Wow, I gotta stop late night typing, what I wanted to say was, it' only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Keep me updated on your progress.
