Ive been in the market for a 2.3 stang for awhile. Havent found one Ive seen several nothing really panned out. What should I be looking for? It should be <100k miles and atleast be clean inside and have a good body right? minimal surface rust?

What else?

A v8 swap already done to it .
A good solid car from the south. I find a few every now and then in FL on ebay. A lot of the clean 4 bangers get purchased by people wanting to put in a V8 in them because the bodies are usually still straight from a lack of power.

Im talking to a guy about an svo right now. He says it runs drives and starts up just fine. It does have some body damage from a small accident which i have not seen yet and the interior looks like a cougar lived in it for awhile. Its got 116000 miles on it and he is the second owner. and he is not budging on the price but thats ok its low anyways.

What are some things i need to look at and watch out for when viewing the car/ test driving it.

If it is an SVO I would hope you leave it as a 2.3T. Too rare of a car to put an 8 in. Besides, a lightly modded, well running SVO will beat an 8 anyday.
-Look at the bottoms of the doors and hatch for rust
-Check for Koni struts in front and shocks in back
-Leather SVO embossed steering whell
-Leather Hurst embossed shifter boot
-4 wheel disc brakes
-5 lugs all the way around
-If there are crank-type windows and no AC controls, it's a Comp Prep (rarer yet)
-If it's a Ttop car, call me!
-Hacked wiring, or if it's an 84, brittle wiring under hood

its like half as much as the one you sent me the link for and looks half as well(good?). and im not gonna tell you where it is unless the whole deal falls thru then i will provide the contact info for anyone who is made of money and would like to restore it. restore it key words.

also its been sitting for a long while should i be cautious of anything.
i know itll need a tune up so you dont need to mention that. plugs wires oil dist cap.

what should i be listening for with the turbo. any weird sounds?

no i dont want to buy it just wondering so i can see what it looks like im guessing its the one on craigslist that is white with blotches of primer on it and has been sitting for six years he put fresh gas in and a new battery and it fired right up am i right on the guess?

oh yea i saw it. its a total mess lol. it needs mad body work and the interior is crap. wow its in rough shape rust all over the place. but it runs just fine purrs like a kitten...a tiger kitten. hes holdin steady at $2500 like super firm he hasnt sold it in years and he wont til he gets $2500 for it.

it about as bad as my car right now except my interior isnt that bad and it doesnt have red spots on the door just work on it if you get it of course its been sitting for six years.

Somethings wrong with that guy if he thinks he is gonna get that much for it. That looks like a parts car.

If I were you I would tell the guy 1500 because it has potential and it is a svo so it would be great to have but it needs alot of work and he said it was in an accident. Try to get him down as low as you can.

theres no way i can talk this guy down. he was like "This is one of the rarest mustangs ever built by the ford motor company" so hes hangin onto his little pot of gold. it needs lotsa work. im lookin for a car i can just jump in and go. maybe put a little work in here and there but not like this one needs. i dont have the time or money to restore a car right now.
