Hey everybody. I am curious to know if anybody could help me with some information. I would like to know any information on stuff that I could do without putting money into the mustang that would help increase the power and what not. I mean, it's not going to be fast, but I would still like to help it as much as I can. I know there isn't much you can do without sinking money into it, but I need stuff until I start getting paid. For example, on a motorcycle you can take hte converter out and put straights on it and get extra power and sound. You can also switch out pipes to be the same diameter as the exhaust port for more speed.
If any body knows of any ways please let me know! Thanks.
a clean air filter, a good oil change. good gas, not discount gas

What brand of oil would you suggest? I used the motorcraft for the ranger I had. And I use a special motorcycle oil on the bike, but what is best for this 2.3 mustang?
what kinda oil is the best, is like asking a girl what color rose is cute, or what color mustang is the best or what brand of gasoline is top
its simple, penzoil
lol
well i use penzoil in everything but my boat and bike
i got a ram thats 150+K miles on regular, not synthetic oil
and my stang and another ram and a jeep and a t bird.
its important that if you switch to syntetic, that you stay with it, going back and fourth over and over can cause leaks.
but i reccomend penzoil.
i hear K&N oil filters help a tad...but at $10 a pop, and how much i change my oil ( every 2K ) too much for me, i use fram.

haha sorry. I haven't owned my mustang very long. I will try the penzoil. It only has 62000 so Its not really time for synthetic yet i don't think. I am only 18 and have pretty low income, so I usually change at about 3000.
I have heard good things about both fram and k&n. Dad actually has a fram air filter in his bonneville. It's a pretty good air filter, but I haven't done anything with fram as far as oil. I will have to buy the stuff soon though. Because the person who owned the car before me changed the oil before I bought it, but I have only been starting the car about once or twice a week right now, because it is at my friends garage with no insuranceyet. (not until my first paycheck), so I figure it should probably changed since it has been sitting that much.
change it every 3 months or 3000 miles, oil does break down
sludge!
yea i wouldent go with a K&N oil filter...too much, i go their air filter love it.
i never switched my truck to synthetic.
but thats jsut me. i think i seen valvonline synthetic for high milage engines, and on the bottle it weas like 75,000 lol thats low miles to me!
motorcraft filters are great too.
does anyone know what a Fram PH2 equates to a mopar part number?

yeah just make sure everything is operating properly. pcv, fuel system, (fuel regulator, pump, change filter) and its about as good as you are gonna get without a lot of money into it
I'm sorry, but I totally do not agree with 05horse, yes changing oil regularly is important but Penzoil and quaker state both have low rankings in multiple testings conducted by API. (american petroulem institute standards) there oils offer high detergent properties but low performance protection. I have built and raced many high performance 4 cyl engines, I have tried every type of oil out there under the sun and have seen the effects of it on my bearings, rings, piston skirts and cam shaft lobes. I've even been sponsored by a couple oil companys in ammature drag racing. In my opinion the best combination you can use in your 'stang is Amsoil 5w/30 synthetic motor oil (not the racing oil-insufficent additive package for daily drivers) in conjunction with one quart of lucas fully synthetic oil stabiliser and once your car has got good oil pressure can beat that engine into the floor and not worry about excessive wear and tear due to high revs, heat and general punishment. I have suggested this combination to many others and the results are all the same: Works fantastic thanks for the advice. But dont take my word for check out the test results for yourself on this link . www.performanceoiltechnology.com/apimotoroiltesting.htm
