well the 2.3t's have about 200 hp but you can get well over that if you put some mods in it like a front mount intercooler witch will let you run an extra 2-4psi of boost witch in turn will give you 20-40 horsepower you can also do alot of stuff like pistons headers intake things of that nature.

Looks like it may be a good donor. Might try looking for an 88 TC more of a chance that it will have an LA3 computer. Definitely do the swap. I am running 545 hp to the rear wheels. MANNY MODS out there, and can be fairly cheap to build...
