I recently, well not recently, got new rims for my 2.3l mustang. Love them to death, the only problem is they are starting to look a bit tired. By that I mean I think the coating on them is starting to fade
I need someone who has experience with this style of rim to suggest how I can bring these back to life...I was told Auto Gleam came out with an Acid Wash would that help? are these rims garbage now? can I get someone to redo the coating [if there is/was one]?
Here are some pics to show you what I mean [taken on my cell phone but still nice quality]:
Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it!!
ps. I know I wont be able to get these babies lookin' shiny as hell but would be nice to restore the look back into them

It looks like you have some rust on those rims. are they steel? one thought about restoring the rims might be to sand blast them though I'm not sure what that will do to the looks. then maybe you'll want to coat the rims or paint them. I don't really know what you want to do with the looks though.

Definitely recommend the powdercoating. I dont have mine done (yet) but I've seen some others that have been and powder coated rims rock! I plan on getting my turbines done as soon as i get the rest of the car in shape lol.

I could try to explain the powdercoating thing, but i'd probably screw it up and then reggie with murdalize me, so I'll let him talk about his shop lol. There's quite a few places here in the states that do it, and i would imagine there's quite a few places in bc that do it as well. There's even kits so you can do it yourself at home, though I'm not sure how the outcome of one of those kits is compared to a professional.

dude in the long run powdercoat will be ur best bet..they go thru a few process to get the powder to say on thru the worst..kinda like bullet proff paint..the kit u can do it ur self is good but not for car rims they go thru hell..spend the money and get them done..plus their r a ton of colors u can get ..well hope this helped
Look for a wheel refinishing shop around your area. I know I found one near me and they charge $95 per wheel. They repair the peeling, curb hits, etc. Bringing them back to life, just how they looked like when new.

a tire/rim shop does not do that ....
you need a powdercoat/metal refinishing shop....
powdercoat 101
Powder coating is a dry finishing process. Finely ground particles of pigment and resin are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the products to be coated.
The parts to be coated are electrically grounded, so that the charged particles adhere to them until melted and fused into a solid coating in a curing oven. The result is an attractive, durable, high-quality finish. The powder coating process itself offers another advantage -- it is environmentally friendly...virtually pollution-free! Unlike liquid paint, no solvents are used, so only negligible amounts of VOCs are released into the air. In addition, unused or oversprayed powder can be recovered, so any waste is minimal and can be disposed of easily and safely.

I was just told by my mechanic here that powder coating isnt the best bet, because it might corrode under the powder coat something like that???
