i had recently went on the underside of my stang' and the previous owner must have backed into a stump.... and its about time to get to get a new muffler system.but i ask this.... is it possible to make a 2.3L have V8 sound?
Not really, the 4 cylinder has a different sound dynamic and it just can't replicate the V8 sound. You can make it louder but it won't sound like a V8.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

ok, this will be very challenging.... i will start looking around for a performance muffler that has a very close sound to the V8. if not i guess i will settle i with a another type.
borla has a good sound but there a little more restrictive and expensive.
use band clamps they won't crush the piping this way you can change out mufflers till you find the one you like.

The only problem I see with this is the concept. Think of a train horn, it higer pitched heading toward you because teh waves are compressed and your hearing them more often, once the train passes the tone is deeper because the waves are no longer compressed and coming at you less often. Like a 4 cyl trying to maintain 80mph as opposed to an 8 cyl. The 4 will be working much harder. Meaning more exhaust more often, the pitch will be higher.
You COULD put in 2.5 in piping and straightflow mufflers from magnaflow(magnapack) theyre real deep and add decent power.
now when you ask for a v8 sound are you talking like an aggressive race sound or just a nice low rumble tone?
i'm a drag racer, so i need a classic sounding, low pitched, mean but a intimidating exhaust. believe it or not i take my little four cyl to the race some times, and sometimes win.... because of show offs playing games, or i just get lucky....

What was your latest 1/4 time?? What mods have you dont so far??
god the only mufflers i can think of that would produce that classic racey sound would be cherry or thrush glasspacks but the 4 's don't produce alot of torque-you'll gain hp at the top end but lose torque at the bottom which you don't want-do you still have the factory cats or have you removed them?-also check out the dynomax home site they have this section on sounds of their products where they take their mufflers and put them on a 502cu motor-obviously it won't sound the same but it might give you a rough idea of some of the sounds and then you can try to look for an equal product
