Default 4cyl trans compared to V8 trans

Been looking at swapping a manual into my mustang. I have been told i can use a fox body set up with a drive shaft spacer(or have it lengthened). So i found an 89 mustang 4cyl trans. This is a t-5 right?(sorry i'm a manual trans newb) How does it compare to a T5 out of a v8? Is it as strong? I know i will need the V8 bellhousing but is there any other differences? Clutch size? flywheel? If so can i get that stuff seperate and use it with this trans? Sorry for so many questions, this is a real good deal otherwise i wouldn't bother.

The input shaft isn't the same as for the V8 and the trans internals won't hold up. You can't lengthen a driveshaft.

Depending on the year you can use a 4 banger T5. They are world class and behind a stock 5.0 will hold up if you dont pound it to hard. The input shaft is smaller on the pilot nose and you will have to use a modded pilot bearing. If you can get the box for a good price grab it and do the conversion with it. Then at least you have a stick and can look for a 5.0 unit. Just a thought. The TC T5 is rated at 245 lbs of torque. The HO or GT 5.0 engine is rated at 300 lbs feet of torque.
