Default im new with a lot of questions.

Hey everybody... im Trevor i have a 1990 mustang 2.3 LX hatchback...This is my first car, i recieved it when i was 15 years old. i am now 22. it has been through a lot with me behind the wheel and now i feel it is time to give her an overhaul... i have recently decided to restore it... i want to keep the 2.3 in it, but i am very interested in adding a 2.3 turbo. i dont know much about vehicles as far as parts, but i am a very quick learner... i dont have a lot of money but i am looking to get it done within the next year..... i will have pics up soon... it needs some work and that is why im here with you guys and girls for opinions and experties advice... i will be gutting it out within the next couple of weeks and starting with interior. then i will move to looks. and then the rest of my time and money will be put into the motor.... and i look forward to doing it all with you guys and girls... ill be back with pics and other questions later thanks for everything....

Hi Trevor,

First of all i would like to say that if you find a turbo motor with the computer for a good price (<$500) then it is a very worth while investment.

Second, I would like to suggest that you save the interior work till last. When restoring a vehicle, the interior always comes last. Pimp My Ride is a perfect example (okay maybe not perfect). I would suggest that you take all of the interior out (or at least all of the stuff that your looking at restoring or changing) and especially take out all of the fabrics and carpets. The reason for this is because you'll make the interior all nice, and then you go and strip all of the paint off or you have to cut out a portion of the quarter panel due to rust. The dust created from metal work and body work gets EVERYWHERE. This also happens especially badly when you have to take a door off to acces the rocker panel. So if you don't want to be shampooing your seats and carpet after already shampooing them once, then do the interior last.

Take it out, clean it up and paint it, put in a dry, cool place and then when everything is done, put it back in.

Another thought, Do not restore this if it your daily driver, you will need another vehicle to get around in when you are working on the engine.

If you have any questions on metal work, body work, welding etc. I am your guy. just send me a private message, and i'll get ya fixed up... Oh yeah and good luck, stuff like this is supposed to be fun, so have a ball !

Steve
