I need to know what the compression ratio is on a 92 mustang 2.3 AND a 89 thunderbird super coupe 2.3 turbo.

I also wanna know about putting a turbo on an 8 plug DIS system 2.3, do I have to switch over the whole motor and wiring harness or can I just install the turbo on the motor already in the car?

If i remember correctly the 92 2.3 was 9-1. And the supercoup was a supercharged 3.8 not a 2.3. I have a duelie 2.3 mustang turbo. Its my wifes car and its an auto. You are very limited on the boost you can run. The engine has cast pistons and they wont take boost for very long. I run7 lbs of boost in my duelie. And that is about it. That is really pushing the limit on that setup. I will tell you that it does wake that little sucker up though. Its a real easy thing to do and i think if you limit the boost to 6-7 lbs you may get away with it. I did Tom.

Im sorry i apologize but the 2.3 turbo 4 cylinder moter i pulled out of a 1989 ford thunderbird supercoupe is NOT a 3.8 motor. ford did put a turgo 2.3 in the tbirds in 89. check your sources

they stopped making the Turbo Coupe in 88 they went from 83-88 89 and up was the thunderbird supercoupe with a supercharged 3.8l six cyl

Yep, the last 2.3 4cyl turbo installed in a T-Bird was 1988. You could however, get an '89 2.3 turbo in the Merkur XR4ti's of that year. But, that was it. After 1989 Ford stopped making the 2.3 turbo. Unless someone installed it previously (which would be a heck of a lot of work and doesn't make much sense) your 2.3T did not come out of a '89 Super Coupe, it came out of an '87-'88 Turbo Coupe.

THE 89 SC was a 3.8 supercharged . It also had an IRS rear axle Assembly.
